Hi! I’m David Peñaranda, and I’m glad to have the opportunity to share a little bit more about myself and my journey at Werfen. A 17-year journey of adding value in different positions in the company, helping optimise processes to be more effective and efficient, where in the last year among the entire HR team, we managed to implement “Employee Wellbeing”, a strategy designed to promote our well-being in all its dimensions.

What motivates me most about working at Werfen is the opportunity to be able to freely express my ideas and those of my team, in an environment where initiatives and differences are valued, always respecting people.

In the company, as in life, we set ourselves goals that drive us to keep fit. In my case, one of them is through sports, combining running with guided activities in the gym, because keeping in good physical shape also means taking care of and strengthening your core. Just as we do with our mental health through psychological care, to maintain a mind-body balance (“Mens sana in corpore sano”), we protect and stimulate our hippocampus and cognitive function in general.

The HS role involves the comprehensive management of occupational health and safety, as well as the identification, evaluation, and proposal of actions to mitigate the risks associated with each position in the organisation. The main responsibilities of this position would be:

 

  • Development and implementation of safety, health, and well-being policies.
  • Implementation of preventive culture (training and awareness-raising)
  • Regulatory compliance, safety audits, emergency plans, etc.
  • Analysis of data, metrics, and trends for continuous improvement.

You are currently present in more than 30 countries and have more than 7000 employees. Do you think that employee care should be unified and/or centralised or should it be differentiated by territory?

In my opinion, I believe that it is convenient to differentiate it by territory, given that, when it comes to management and subsequent analysis for the implementation of improvements, the lifestyle and culture of each country must be taken into account to be able to analyse the data in depth.

The truth is that we were evaluating different options and the solution offered by ifeel, being 100% online, makes it much easier to access the different services, while breaking geographical and time barriers, being more effective and accessible to a greater number of people.

Equally, as you say, at Werfen we have a strong commitment to sustainability and believe we have an obligation to our employees, customers, partners, and communities to drive our business sustainably. Any alternative that reduces our negative impact on the environment is preferable, as in this case, a 100% online solution.
