La reestructuraci\u00f3n cognitiva es una <strong>t\u00e9cnica \u00fatil para entender nuestros sentimientos y estados de \u00e1nimo<\/strong> y <strong>desarticular las creencias subyacentes<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Se trata de ayudarnos a <strong>identificar afirmaciones irracionales, entenderlas, y repensarlas de manera m\u00e1s racional<\/strong>. Se emplea extensamente en las terapias cognitivo conductuales para <strong>tratar ansiedad, depresi\u00f3n y trastornos alimenticios<\/strong>. It might sound as if someone is going to enter your brain and tidy it up, but far from that. Cognitive restructuring is a useful technique to understand our feelings and moods, and to untangle the hidden beliefs underneath them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The technique is about identifying irrational thoughts, understanding them and rethinking them more rationally. It is used extensively in cognitive behavioral therapies to treat anxiety, depression and eating disorders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are subject to rational and irrational thoughts, and the majority of times we interpret ambiguous information irrationally. We think people ignore us when they don\u2019t look us in the eye, or that someone is angry with us when they don\u2019t greet us. Some therapists call this unordered patterns, and they employ cognitive restructuring to help us understand and reorder them in a more realist and healthy way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cognitive restructuring allows us to identify those potentially harmful thoughts, analyze them and contemplate them from another point of view. It might just be that the person wasn\u2019t keeping eye contact because he or she was distracted, or that they didn\u2019t say hi because they were in a rush. These might be simple example, but as we develop this tool we realize that not all of our thoughts have a basis in reality, especially those that hurt us.
